Leaphart Place

Leaphart Place provides safe, stable, and supportive housing for young adults with disabilities who have aged out of foster care, are homeless, or are at risk of homelessness. Built by Growing Hope, Leaphart Place serves as a launching pad toward independence, helping residents build life skills, pursue education or employment, and connect with supportive services.

Who We Serve

Applicants must be: 

  • Young adults (18-26 years old)

  • Formerly in foster care or at risk of homelessness (HUD certification required)

  • Living with a disability diagnosed by a qualified professional or the Social Security Administration

Applicants must also:​

  • Have no disqualifying criminal convictions (such as sex offenses, violent crimes, arson, or drug-related felonies)

  • Have no recent eviction history for cause

  • Be capable of meeting 25 hours per week of productive activity (work, school, or volunteering)

  • Be able to cover basic needs (food, clothing, utilities, essentials)

Supportive Services

Residents benefit from a case management model  and access to on-site and community-based supports, including:

  • Rental assistance for those who qualify

  • Mental health services on site

  • Coordinated referrals to community providers

  • Life skills training (budgeting, cooking, job readiness)

  • Counseling and support groups

  • Social and cultural activities

  • Structured guidance to promote independence

Life at Leaphart Place

Leaphart Place features 20 furnished apartments, each with a bedroom, bathroon, kitchen/dining area, and sitting space. Additional amenities include:

  • A commons room with internet, TV, and phone access

  • Onsite laundry facilities

  • A supportive, community-focused environment where residents learn conflict resolution, independence, and responsibility

Residents pay income-based rent and contribute to community by maintaining at least 25 hours per week of productive activity. Many receive Social Security benefits, state assistance, or are employed while continuing counseling and skill development.

A Path Toward Independence

At Leaphart Place, young adults gain the tools and confidence to transition successfully into independent living, learning how to budget, prepare meals, pursue education or emplopyment, and thrive in their community.
